Buying/Planning - Consultant, Watson Laboratories

Watson Laboratories is a leading specialty pharmaceutical company that develops, manufactures, markets and distributes brand and generic pharmaceutical products world-wide, with one of the broadest product offerings in the U.S. generics industry. In my current position as a Buying & Planning Consultant, I am responsible for numerous facets of the buying and planning processes within the procurement/purchasing division of the organization. Some of my responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Management of the MRP batch messaging through JD Edwards OneWorld. Task requires the ability to successfully work in conjunction with the Master Scheduler, Detail Planner, Senior Planner, etc., in order to maintain supply per sales forecasting.

Maintenance of the DMF (Drug Maintenance File) in order to ensure federally mandated compliance under DEA standards.

Perform and log activities and tasks in accordance with cGMP standards.

Regional main point of contact for assigned vendors. Manage the vendors and corporate processes, responsible for all negotiations, needs analysis, needs planning, expediting, etc.

Issue purchase orders as part of planning with 3rd party packagers.

Work with a variety of technical packages on a daily basis to successfully execute my job. Currently working in a Windows 2007 environment with Lotus Notes as our mail client and JD Edwards OneWorld as our MRP II system.

Extensive reporting and analysis responsibilities with subsequent solution suggestions and development of new policies and cost savings measures.

Coordinate with transportation and logistics (internally and externally) to ensure products are delivered on time to our distribution centers and to receive incoming vital ingredients and packaging components.

Corporate Purchasing Manager, Maxim Healthcare Services

Maxim Healthcare Services is a billion-dollar national provider of integrated healthcare services and staffing solutions across a broad spectrum of industries and clientele. As the Corporate Purchasing Manager for the entire company, I was responsible for all facets of the organization's corporate purchasing activities. Some of my responsibilities and more highly visible accomplishments included but were not limited to:

Reported directly to the CFO of the company.

Managed a team of six direct reports and one indirect report.

Through vendor consolidation, GPO (group purchasing organization) affiliation, and creative negotiation, more than doubled company-wide savings from $1 million to over $2.5 million during my first year with the organization.

Completely overhauled the process and procedures of preferred vendors of the company for all business units including: Staffing, Information Technology, Hardware, Software, Office Equipment, Telecom Equipment, Professional Services, etc. Worked the overall vendor list from well over 125 providers down to 75 of the best and most cost efficient.

Responsible for all contract negotiations and fee agreements with vendors and maintenance of vendor compliance through the development, purchase and implementation of Taleo's ATS and OnBoarding systems.

Worked in conjunction with Human Resources and Legal to champion, develop and implement new best practices for all new hires, recruiting processes, policies, etc., for corporate-wide use at all levels.

Successfully centralized purchasing for eight-warehouse respiratory therapy division, which realized immediate savings for the organization. This process was achieved by championing the process of integrating the CPR+ Purchasing Management System into a seamless procurement structure to include material transfers, inventory reductions, and more accurate patient billing to improve the bottom line.

Championed, developed, and completed integration for corporate-wide implementation of XIGN paperless invoicing system, which resulted in increased efficiency and quicker turn around on invoice payment to the company.

Developed and implemented a corporate-wide Direct Marketing Campaign from development to launch with Marketing Manager.

Developed and implemented a main consolidation project which resulted in annual cost savings of over $300K.

During my tenure with Maxim, I personally saved the company over $5 million dollars through a variety of cost savings measures, consolidations, negotiations, best practice development, etc. Additionally, I championed over 5 major projects which were implemented corporate-wide and remain in place today.

Pollution Control Analyst/Purchasing Associate, City of Baltimore

In my position with the City of Baltimore, I worked for the Department of Public Works, where I was a Pollution Control Analyst and had purchasing responsibilities. This department was responsible for over 60 employees and a large budget. In my position, I was responsible for a myriad of duties, including but not limited to:

Biological and environmental testing, analysis and sample-gathering as well as wildlife population studies and several other biological and environmental tasks.

Responsible for writing all purchasing specifications and justifications and submitting them for approval through the proper governmental channels for budget approvals.

Responsible for purchasing of goods, services, heavy equipment, vehicles, chemicals, etc. Was also responsible for working with surveyors and contractors on all DPW construction projects. Maintained and catalogued all equipment, purchases and records.

Worked in conjunction with local and state government offices and officials to accomplish the goals of multi-level governmental initiatives.
